following some interesting inputs https://application.qnest.eu/routes/5e412ba0ec0de418b9f02cc2 and then a long description: “Through this tourist route, visitors have the opportunity to admire the natural beauty offered by the areas of Arta and Thesprotia, two areas that provide a wide variety of wetlands and mountainous areas included in European networks of protection and sustainable development (Natura 2000) and international protection networks (Ramsar Convention). The tourist route starts from Amvrakikos gulf, located among the Prefectures of Arta, Preveza & Aitoloakarnania, and is distinguished for its great biological, ecological, aesthetic, scientific, geomorphological, and educational value. It is a semi-closed sea, watered by plenty of freshwaters and sediments, thanks to the rivers Arachthos, Louros, Vovos, and Krikeliotis, consisting of landscapes of unique diversity and amazing differences with bays, tongues of land, coves, channels, capes, strips, all composing a scenery of exquisite beauty. Passing by an islet, the visitors can access the beautiful village of Koronisia. The beautiful, every season of the year, Koronisia dominates in the middle of the Amvrakikos gulf. Here, there is a small family business, Koronisia Apartments, which maintains the color of traditional Greek hospitality and the culture of the inhabitants of Epirus. The visitors can enjoy their stay in the apartments admiring the enchanting sunset of the gulf. The visitors can enjoy fresh fish in "Myrtaria" and continue the route in the company Fisheries - B. GEITONAS & CO. EE that managed to produce and sell in the European and Greek market a variety of eel products (Live, Fresh and Smoked) and excellent quality tilapia and mullet. With a steady course and continuous work, it has been established in the field with the excellent product it produces. The company implements the Food Safety Management System (ISO 22000: 2005) - HACCP. Continuing the route, and passing through the historic Bridge of Arta, on the left bank of the river Arachthos, we meet the imposing Arta’s Plane Tree, also known as Platanos of Ali Pasha. One of the oldest and most beautiful natural assets in Greece, it was declared as protected natural monument in 1976. It provides the perfect shade for an enjoyable coffee break while the visitor takes in the view of the bridge and the river. Right next to the plane tree are two restaurants, "Gefyra" and "Protomastoras", ideal places that offer dishes with elements from the Mediterranean diet and a wide variety of excellent wines. The route continues to the thermal springs located in Chanopoulo, Arta. The rarity lies in the composition of the water, the geomorphology and the climate of the place. The creation of thermal water is a perpetual process of nature, which is consecutively accomplished by the contact of water with aquifers that penetrate the rocks of the subsoil, collecting the valuable bio-constituents until it reaches the source of Chanopoulo, at the foot of Mount Marathia. In the healing and charming natural environment of the spring, there is the complex of facilities, which consists of three stone buildings: the hotel Marathia, the hydrotherapy and the restaurant, built since 1950 for the needs of the bathers and the promotion of the thermal spring. In close proximity, it is located the National Park of Tzoumerka- Peristeri & Arachthos Gorge, stretching across the mountainous regions of Ioannina, Arta, and Trikala Prefectures in the central part of the Pindos mountain range, including the Arachthos River gorge and the springs of the Acheloos River. Within its various habitats, there are a lot of rare and endemic plant species while, at its terrestrial ecosystems many rare & protected species of mammals such as the Otter, the Brown bear, the Wild Goat, and deer could be found. The visitors could stay at Panthoron guest house. Α few kilometers away, in the eastern Tzoumerka Region, there is the village of Theodoriana, encircled by two rivers, the Goura and the White Goura. In the middle of a dark green forest, there are two stupendous waterfalls falling from a height of 1,300m. The visitors have the opportunity to learn a lot about the Greek honey product, The "nectar of the gods" as it is called. Honey is not just a sweetener but a unique product, rich in nutrients, aroma and flavor that has the ability to act in addition to helping our body fight various diseases. During the trip, visitors will taste this natural product and its sub-products, visiting 2 bees' farms, those of Tsiouni in Arta and those of Sofia in Thesprotia. The next stop of the tourist route is the Acheron River, which shows a great ecological and naturalist interest and presents a wonderful succession of landscapes, throughout the entire area that it extends across. It is one of the most beautiful habitats in Greece. The river straits have been integrated into the natural areas protected by “NATURA 2000”. According to mythology, the Acheron plain was a place occupied by the souls of the dead people. Charon led the souls via the River Acheron to Lake Acherousia, at the depths of which lay the kingdom of Hades. For this reason, the “Necromanteion” was established on the northeastern shore of Lake Acherousia. At this impressive site, people worshipped the gods of the Underworld and communicated with the souls of the dead people. Subsequently, visitors could be informed of the production of many local traditional beverages in “Diamantis Distillery”. Diamantis family deploys all their knowledge, experience, and guarantee exquisite quality, selecting the appropriate raw material, the state-of-the-art equipment, the standards of proper hygiene, and the continuing control. The next point of interest is called Tzavelena’s Old Stairs, is included in NATURA 2000 network and is home to endemic and rare flora and fauna species. It starts at the banks of the legendary river Acheron and then goes on the path where Tzavelena (heroine of the Greek revolution of 1821) was crossing on her horse. Somewhere nearby, there is a gorge, forgotten by time, which is crossed by the Kalamas River. The flawless landscape, which surrounds this blessed river, creates a sense of euphoria and serenity. The acropolis of Osdina and Raveni stand as guards at the beginning and the end of the river. The estuary of Kalamas is declared a protected area, due to its important water biotope, in which rare species of birds make their nests. An information center operates on the coast of Saghiada. The area between Vrosyna and Pente Ekklisies is also protected. The last point of interest of the route is the unique beauty lake with water lilies, in Elos of Kalodiki. It is one more station for migrating birds, in a beautiful landscape, to the south of the Prefecture of Thesprotia. Many aquatic birds find shelter in reeds. Prey birds, such as golden eagles, falcons, and buzzards come down from the surrounding mountains for hunting. A large area is covered by water lilies in its northern part, which blossom in May, offering a spectacle of unique beauty. At the end of the route, the visitors can enjoy dishes with fresh fish in a restaurant called Blue Coast.”

Thank you. There are the main attractions if you think on a “nature-based” route close to Arta. I planned on the next spring to spend some hours in those sites. A slowly and immersive visit: I have to spend some hours dedicated to me and my family … a lot of work makes me crazy and no time for my dears! Thank you for the suggestion! Thank you QNeST!
